Technology in the Classroom

Technology is an important part of the learning experience at Primer, but it is only one of the many tools our educators use to support student learning. Great teaching, strong relationships, and meaningful learning experiences remain at the heart of every classroom.

Students use technology to practice skills, access learning activities, and receive feedback as they build their understanding in literacy and math. Because students learn at different paces, technology helps educators understand where each student is making progress and where additional support or challenge may be helpful.

Throughout the day, educators use student work, classroom observations, and learning data to guide instruction and make informed decisions about how to support students. This allows teachers to spend more time working with individuals and small groups, leading discussions, answering questions, and helping students build confidence in new skills.

Technology is just one part of the school day. Students also participate in:

• Teacher-led instruction
• Small-group learning
• Independent practice
• Collaborative discussions
• Hands-on projects through Pursuits
• Reading, writing, problem-solving, and creative activities
• Outdoor recess and movement

Our goal is to create a balanced learning experience where technology supports great teaching rather than replacing it. By combining thoughtful use of technology with engaging instruction and strong relationships, students receive the guidance, practice, and encouragement they need to continue growing as learners.
